Artificial intelligence companies are increasingly turning to health care and drug discovery as they seek to demonstrate tangible benefits to the public, according to Axios.
Anthropic, Nvidia, Eli Lilly and Google-backed Isomorphic Labs are among the major players expanding their work in medicine.
AI is already helping accelerate drug research and medical imaging, but major breakthroughs could still take years. The technology also carries risks, including higher health care costs and concerns that advanced research systems could be misused for biological threats.
The report said AI firms face additional pressure as they build costly computing infrastructure and prepare for public-market growth. Industry observers argue that genuine medical advances could improve AI's reputation.
However, public concerns over data centers, corporate profits, safety and affordability could complicate that effort, particularly under the Trump administration's evolving regulatory approach.
