Why Did China Call The U.S. Blockade 'Dangerous'

China has strongly criticized the U.S. naval blockade targeting Iranian ports in the Strait of Hormuz, calling the move “dangerous and irresponsible,” according to statements from Beijing’s foreign ministry.

Spokesperson Guo Jiakun warned that the blockade, combined with increased U.S. military presence, could worsen an already fragile ceasefire. He stressed that only a full ceasefire and renewed dialogue can stabilize the region, the report said.

The U.S. imposed the blockade after talks with Iran failed, aiming to pressure Tehran to reopen the vital shipping route. China, a major buyer of Iranian oil, has a direct economic stake in keeping the strait operational.

Beijing also rejected claims that it is supplying weapons to Iran, describing such reports as unfounded. Oil prices showed slight easing amid hopes of diplomacy, but uncertainty remains high.

According to officials, China will continue pushing for negotiations to restore stability and ensure uninterrupted global energy flows.
