Iran announced it has suspended military strikes against Israel but warned that attacks could resume if Israel continues targeting Hezbollah positions in Lebanon. According to CNBC, Tehran linked any future escalation to Israeli military operations across the border.

The latest tensions erupted after Iran and Israel exchanged strikes Sunday night, marking the first major flare-up since a U.S.-Iran ceasefire took effect in April.

Iran accused Israel of violating the truce through repeated strikes in Lebanon, including an attack on Beirut’s southern suburbs. Israel responded by launching what it described as large-scale strikes on strategic defense targets.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the conflict with Iran and Hezbollah "has not yet ended," though he argued both adversaries have been significantly weakened.

President Donald Trump, meanwhile, insisted peace negotiations remain active. In posts on Truth Social, Trump urged both sides to stop fighting and said discussions on a broader settlement were continuing.

However, an Iranian official questioned the prospects of a deal, telling MS NOW that an agreement with the Trump administration was no longer feasible at this stage.

Oil prices briefly surged more than 5% on the renewed violence before easing later in the day.
