Ford has announced a new recall affecting 255,404 Ford Focus vehicles from model years 2012 to 2018 after a previous repair failed to fully address a potentially dangerous engine defect.
The report said Ford dealers will provide affected owners with a free powertrain software update to correct the defect. Notification letters are expected to be mailed around July 6.
Owners can contact Ford customer service for assistance and check whether their vehicle is included through the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration database beginning July 6. The new recall supersedes the earlier safety campaign related to the defect.
