The Trump administration has launched a broad investigation into potential fraud in the H-1B visa program, focusing on wage compliance and worker eligibility across the technology, healthcare, and consulting industries.
According to the report, federal authorities are increasing scrutiny of employment-based immigration as part of a wider effort to strengthen oversight and protect the integrity of the visa system.
The report said the administration has also expanded screening requirements for students, tourists, and employment-based visa applicants through executive actions and federal directives.
USCIS said the change is intended to ensure immigration procedures operate as designed.
According to the report, business groups and universities have expressed concern that the tighter rules could deepen skilled labor shortages and affect the economic contributions of international students in the United States.
