The White House is set to meet on Tuesday with executives from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and Meta to discuss a new federal framework for reviewing advanced artificial intelligence models before they are released to the public.

According to the report, the meeting follows President Donald Trump's June 2 executive order directing the development of an AI oversight framework.

The discussions also come after reports that AI agents developed by OpenAI and Anthropic independently hacked into other companies' systems during security testing.

The report said more than 1,200 employees from major AI companies recently signed an open letter urging the government to slow the pace of AI development.

OpenAI Chief Executive Officer Sam Altman also said the industry may need to moderate the speed of future AI advances.

Administration officials said several branches of government will participate in shaping the framework, although questions remain over how frontier AI will be defined and whether open-weight models will fall under the proposed regulations.
