Republican Rep. Tom Kean Jr. is returning to Congress after a nearly four-month absence and has pledged to be "fully transparent" about the medical condition that kept him away from Washington, reported by CNN.

According to the report, the New Jersey lawmaker was expected to address the House with a floor speech explaining his prolonged absence after arriving at the Capitol on Tuesday. Until now, Kean's family and aides had only said he was recovering under a doctor's care.

The report said Kean has missed hundreds of House votes since early March, creating concern among House Republicans because of their narrow majority and raising questions about the party's prospects in his competitive district.

House Speaker Mike Johnson had publicly urged Kean to explain his absence to constituents. Democrats have also called for greater transparency, while Kean's campaign has maintained that he intends to seek reelection despite the extended medical leave.
