FBI Raid On Trump Will Make Him A Martyr
Monday's FBI raid on President Trump's Palm Beach, Florida home at Mar-a-Lago, represents the most dramatic intensification of Deep State action against anyone. The unannounced search - presumably to find classified documents that he may have brought to his home after he left office - played directly into Trump's hands.
In a statement, Trump was classic Trump. He said the estate "is currently under siege, raided, and occupied. After working and cooperating with the relevant Government agencies, this unannounced raid on my home was not necessary or appropriate. Such an assault could only take place in broken, Third-World Countries."
"They even broke into my safe!" he wrote. "What is the difference between this and Watergate, where operatives broke into the Democratic National Committee? Here, in reverse, Democrats broke into the home of the 45th President of the United States."
Trump must have received feelers from insiders that the raid was imminent. Speaking at CPAC on Saturday to a standing-room-only crowd in a large Dallas hotel ballroom, Trump, in his typical style, talked about how a friend recently remarked to him that he was the most persecuted person in modern history. The friendly audience clapped him on - they had, after all, expressed 99% approval of his time in the White House.
Trump received 74 million votes in the 2020 election, 11 million more than in 2016. He expanded his coalition as more urban Black men and Hispanics voted for him, sending shock waves through the Democrat party. Many of these voters will be shaking their heads, wondering how fast the country has deteriorated as a few Washington power brokers leverage the tools of the Deep State to go after him.
Trump was justified in believing that numerous election irregularities caused his downfall. The number of people who voted absentee in states with little experience with no-excuse mail-in balloting shot up dramatically. In the heat of the Covid pandemic, Democrat operatives pushed through unprecedented changes for unmonitored drop boxes. In states they controlled (like New Jersey), Democrats had the laws changed to send absentee ballots to every registered voter. In states where the Left had no legislative control (Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Wisconsin), they filed over 145 lawsuits alleging that Covid shutdowns would disproportionately disenfranchise minorities and other communities of color. The list of remedies they sought were relaxed rules to accept late mail-in ballots and eliminating restrictions to verify ballot signatures against voter rolls.
American elections are a 50-state matter. In the five weeks between Election Day and vote certification by the states in December, a losing candidate faces extraordinary odds to contest the outcome called by media outlets. The Left's ruse that "there was no evidence of massive voter fraud" may be legally correct but intellectually dishonest. It is hard to prove fraud when voter laws were dramatically changed and relaxed in the middle of the night without sufficient scrutiny. You can't remove a Stop sign at an intersection and cite a driver for not obeying traffic laws. But a crash could occur regardless.
The coalition that helped elect Joe Biden as America's 46th president was broad and deeply committed. For four years, the liberal media, academia, Big Tech, pollsters, Washington-Beltway insiders, and the entertainment industry did everything to weaken Trump, keeping Election Day 2020 in mind. For nearly two years, they charged that Trump colluded with the Russians in 2016 and investigated him. All charges were found baseless. They impeached Trump, accusing him of corruption when he called the Ukrainian leader about requesting them to investigate Hunter Biden. Today, we know from the laptop story that many of Trump's charges were true and that the Left went out of their way to suppress these accusations weeks before the election.
The Left then pummelled Trump's handling of Covid and its economic fallout on a 24/7 basis. But more Americans died from Covid in 2021, with Biden in power, after Trump spearheaded the development and release of vaccines under his watch.
Major media outlets predicted a 10-point Biden win nationally and in some states, like Wisconsin, by 17 points, on the Sunday before election day. The election was a lot closer. For someone so vilified and hated, Trump won 74 million votes, the most for any sitting president in history. It took the networks four agonizing days to call the race for Biden, whose margin of victory was only three percent. In Wisconsin, Biden squeaked by with just a 0.7 percent lead, similar to Georgia (0.5 percent) and Pennsylvania (1 percent).
Trump may have gone too far in denying the election results, culminating in his actions on January 6. But Trump has already paid the penalty for his actions. He was impeached an unprecedented second time, and acquitted by the Senate, a second time.
Dissatisfied with the Senate acquittal, the witch hunt of the J6 committee is what has led to this point. The committee has two Republicans who are passionate Trump haters who the minority party did not appoint. The proceedings never gave the Trump team a chance to present their side. The prime-time show trials have been non-stop about bringing Trump down, 18 months after he left office, to slap dubious criminal charges against an ex-President for the first time in American history.
Where does the political persecution of Trump stop?
The Democrats are afraid of the rise of Trump. They are in the endless pursuit to legally stop Trump from running for the nation's highest office in 2024. Having failed in their efforts to impeach him, they constituted the J6 select committee probe. And now, they have launched legal actions in multiple theaters, one in New York, the second in Georgia, and the third in D.C., hoping something would stick.
The nation's law enforcement agencies under the Biden administration have set a remarkable course that, if not corrected, will undoubtedly lead to the country becoming a banana republic. Americans were stunned by the FBI's retreatment of Peter Navarro, who served as a top presidential advisor to Trump. The raid on Mar-A-Lago outdoes shackling Navarro with leg irons. It is no wonder Americans lack confidence in the DOJ and the FBI.
A recent Golden/TIPP revealed that most Americans (52%) lacked trust in the Department of Justice. While Democrats (53%) and liberals (51%) trust the DOJ, most Republicans (61%) and conservatives (57%) do not have much faith in the institution any longer. Also, the poll showed that more than half of Independents (59%) and moderates (50%) do not trust the DOJ either.
Regarding the FBI, those who trust and those who do not are nearly similar in number. The Golden/TIPP Poll shows overall 47 percent distrust, and 46 percent trust the Bureau. The trust factor divides along party and ideological lines. Most Democrats (57%) and liberals (58%) trust the FBI. But, most Republicans (55%) and conservatives (58%) lack trust though Trump appointed the current Director. A majority of Independents (53%) lack trust. Moderates are divided - 48% trust and 44% lack trust.
Americans like underdogs. Even the worst Trump hater knows that no human being could have endured even 10 percent of these attacks. An FBI raid against an ex-president, who brought unprecedented prosperity and no new wars, is a cheap shot typical of banana republics. If history is an indication, making Trump a martyr will only strengthen him, the opposite of the outcome the Left has wanted for the past seven long years.
