A French appeals court has upheld far-right leader Marine Le Pen's conviction for misusing European Union funds but cleared the way for her to contest France's 2027 presidential election, reported by CNN.
The report said the court reduced her effective ban from seeking public office to 15 months, making her eligible to run in next year's presidential race. However, Le Pen has previously said campaigning while wearing an electronic monitoring device would be difficult.
The appeals court also convicted four other members of the National Rally party. French President Emmanuel Macron declined to comment on the ruling, saying it would be inappropriate for the president to discuss court decisions.
