Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham's political relationship with President Donald Trump evolved from fierce opposition during the 2016 Republican primary into one of the most influential alliances in Washington, reported by CNN.
According to CNN, regular meetings, phone calls and golf outings helped build their partnership, with Graham emerging as a key adviser on foreign policy and Capitol Hill strategy.
The report said Graham played an important role in advancing Trump's agenda during both terms, including support for Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh's confirmation, military action against Iran, backing Ukraine, and efforts to strengthen pressure on Russia.
Despite their close alliance, Graham maintained independent positions on issues such as the Senate filibuster and his support for the late Sen. John McCain.
Following Graham's death, Trump praised him as one of the greatest senators he had known and credited him with shaping major Republican priorities.
