Iran claimed on Friday that recent U.S. airstrikes hit civilian infrastructure and announced retaliatory attacks against U.S. targets in Syria and Bahrain, signaling a wider regional escalation.

Iranian state media alleged the strikes killed eight people and injured 20, claiming bridges, a train station and an airport were damaged. CNBC said it could not independently verify those claims.

Iran's Revolutionary Guards also claimed to have struck a U.S. command center in Syria's al-Tanf region, while Bahrain, Jordan and Qatar reported intercepting Iranian aerial attacks.

President Donald Trump said the United States was "winning big" in Iran and reiterated pressure on Tehran to return to negotiations.

The report said oil prices surged, with Brent crude topping $85 a barrel, as fears of a prolonged regional conflict and supply disruptions intensified.
