Iran Offers To Reopen Strait If U.S. Lifts Blockade

Strait of Hormuz

Iran has reportedly offered to reopen the Strait of Hormuz if the United States lifts its naval blockade and the ongoing conflict ends, according to Axios and The Associated Press. The report said Tehran is also willing to delay nuclear negotiations.

President Donald Trump has signaled reluctance, insisting the blockade will remain until a complete agreement is reached. Secretary of State Marco Rubio rejected Iran’s proposal, arguing it would allow Tehran to control access to international waters.

Diplomatic efforts have stalled after Trump canceled planned talks in Pakistan, despite claims of a revised Iranian offer.

The Strait of Hormuz remains central to the conflict. The report said the route, which carries a major share of global oil, has seen sharply reduced traffic, pushing prices higher.

The U.S. blockade continues, with multiple vessels already intercepted.
