Japanese Officials Said To Visit U.S. Today For Trade Talks

U.S. President Donald Trump and Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba hold a joint press conference in the East Room at the White House on February 07, 2025 in Washington, DC

Japanese officials are scheduled to arrive in the U.S. on Wednesday for high-level talks focused on tariffs, trade policy, and the cost of U.S. military support. The meeting, announced on the social media platform Truth Social by the U.S. President Donald Trump, will include U.S. Treasury and Commerce Secretaries alongside the President himself.

Trump said the talks aim to address “trade fairness” and reach a deal that benefits both countries. The discussions come amid ongoing tensions over the financial burden of maintaining U.S. military bases in Japan and trade imbalances that have long been a source of friction.
