A federal judge in Florida ruled that President Donald Trump's $10 billion lawsuit against the Internal Revenue Service was filed for an "improper purpose" and referred his attorney to the Florida Bar for possible disciplinary action, reported by CNBC.

Judge Kathleen Williams said the lawsuit appeared intended to create the appearance of "judicial legitimacy" for a controversial Justice Department settlement that temporarily established a $1.8 billion compensation fund for alleged victims of prosecutorial misconduct.

According to the ruling, Williams also directed that copies of her order be sent to the New York State Bar, where Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche is a member, and the District of Columbia Bar, where Associate Attorney General Stanley Woodward is licensed.

Trump's legal team rejected the judge's findings.

In a statement, a spokesman argued that the IRS improperly allowed a politically motivated employee to leak confidential tax information involving Trump, his family and the Trump Organization to media outlets, and said the president would continue pursuing accountability.
