North Korean leader Kim Jong Un tested newly developed pistols during a visit to a light weapons factory, according to state media reports cited by the Associated Press.

The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported that Kim inspected the factory a day earlier and reviewed a new handgun that recently entered mass production. After firing the weapon at a shooting range, Kim reportedly described the pistol as “excellent,” the report said.

Photos released by state media showed Kim’s teenage daughter, believed to be Kim Ju Ae, also firing a pistol alongside senior military officials. According to the report, KCNA did not mention her presence in its written coverage.

Kim said the factory plays a key role in supplying pistols and other small arms to North Korea’s military and security forces. He urged officials to expand production capacity and modernize manufacturing lines.

Experts say the girl’s growing public appearances suggest Kim may be preparing her as a future leader of the ruling family dynasty.
