Republican Rep. Andy Ogles faced widespread criticism after a social media post stating that “homosexuality has no place in America” appeared on his X account and was later deleted.
Ogles subsequently attributed the message to a staff member, saying the individual had been reprimanded and that he was unaware of the post when it was published.
The statement drew condemnation from Democrats, LGBTQ+ advocacy groups, and several Republicans. According to the report, Sen. Ted Cruz and Rep. Mike Lawler were among the GOP figures who publicly criticized the message, with Lawler describing it as idiotic and emphasizing that LGBTQ+ Americans are part of the nation.

The controversy renewed attention on Ogles’ long-standing opposition to various LGBTQ+ policies and initiatives.
Critics argued that the post reflected broader concerns about rhetoric directed toward the LGBTQ+ community, while supporters of Pride Month events called for greater accountability from elected officials.
Ogles maintained that the incident was an unwelcome distraction from his legislative work and offered limited additional comment.
The episode nevertheless generated significant debate across party lines and prompted renewed discussion about political messaging during Pride Month.
