First lady Melania Trump and President Donald Trump will bring separate guest lists to this year’s State of the Union address, breaking with long-standing White House precedent.
Traditionally, the first lady’s guests align closely with the themes of the president’s speech. This year, Melania Trump’s guests reflect her independent initiatives, including foster care and responsible artificial intelligence.

Among them are Sierra Burns, a former foster youth turned policy advocate, and Everest Nevraumont, a 10-year-old AI education advocate.
The president’s guests are expected to highlight his policy agenda. According to the White House, they will include U.S. service members and Americans who have benefited from Trump-backed measures such as eliminating taxes on tips and overtime.
One guest will also spotlight savings from the administration’s new TrumpRx health initiative. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said the guests collectively reflect patriotic values and policy outcomes. The move underscores Melania Trump’s increasingly distinct role within the administration.
