Stephen Miller, a longtime Trump adviser and architect of the administration’s hardline immigration agenda, is emerging as a top contender for the role of national security adviser, according to Axios. Miller currently serves as homeland security adviser and deputy chief of staff and is one of the president’s closest confidants.
While some sources say Miller may prefer to stay focused on immigration policy, others believe Trump would readily approve the appointment if Miller wants the job. The position is vacant following Mike Waltz’s nomination to the U.N. Axios said Miller could not be reached for comment.
