No Talks With Starmer On UK’s Palestinian Statehood Plan: Trump

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer

President Donald Trump said he did not discuss the UK’s plan to recognize a Palestinian state during his meeting with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer in Scotland.

“We never did discuss it,” Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One, addressing speculation that the topic came up during their talks.

The UK government has signaled it may formally recognize a Palestinian state in September, unless Israel agrees to a ceasefire and commits to a two-state solution.

Pressed on whether he supports the move, Trump said, “I’m not going to take a position. I don’t mind him [the prime minister] taking a position. I’m looking for getting people fed right now.”

Trump’s remarks suggest the meeting focused on other priorities, despite growing international debate over Palestinian statehood recognition.
