Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said the Pentagon will review comments made by Senator Mark Kelly regarding U.S. military weapons stockpiles after the Arizona Democrat discussed the issue publicly during a television interview.
Speaking on CBS’ “Face the Nation,” Kelly said recent Pentagon briefings revealed that U.S. munitions reserves had been heavily depleted.
According to Kelly, the situation could weaken America’s preparedness for future conflicts, including potential tensions involving China.

Calls are growing for Sen. Mark Kelly - who had previously and openly called on the U.S. military to ignore orders from its Commander in Chief - to resign and be investigated after possibly LEAKING classified information to news outlets, specifically concerning… pic.twitter.com/GOuFOPW54i
Hegseth responded on X by accusing Kelly of publicly discussing classified information and said Pentagon legal officials would examine whether the senator violated his oath.
Kelly pushed back against the accusation, arguing that the information was already discussed openly during a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing. He cited Hegseth’s own remarks from the hearing about it taking years to rebuild certain stockpiles.
The dispute adds to an ongoing political and legal clash between the two men tied to Kelly’s earlier criticism of the Trump administration.
