A second American citizen infected with the Bundibugyo strain of Ebola has been transferred from the Democratic Republic of the Congo to Germany for specialized treatment.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the patient is a humanitarian aid worker who tested positive during the country's ongoing Ebola outbreak.
The report said the patient received clinical care and close monitoring from the WHO while in Ituri province, where the majority of infections have been reported.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention also confirmed the patient's diagnosis.
Health authorities continue to monitor the situation as international organizations work to contain the spread of the virus and provide treatment to those affected.
