Second American With Ebola Transferred To Germany For Treatment

A second American citizen infected with the Bundibugyo strain of Ebola has been transferred from the Democratic Republic of the Congo to Germany for specialized treatment.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the patient is a humanitarian aid worker who tested positive during the country's ongoing Ebola outbreak.

The report said the patient received clinical care and close monitoring from the WHO while in Ituri province, where the majority of infections have been reported.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention also confirmed the patient's diagnosis.

According to the report, the Democratic Republic of the Congo's Ebola outbreak has resulted in more than 1,900 confirmed cases and over 700 deaths, based on figures released by the country's Ministry of Health.

Health authorities continue to monitor the situation as international organizations work to contain the spread of the virus and provide treatment to those affected.
