A bipartisan group of U.S. senators has introduced a sweeping Russia sanctions bill and urged Congress to pass it in honor of the late Sen. Lindsey Graham, one of the legislation's leading supporters.
According to the report, Graham worked with the White House and Treasury Department to build support for the proposal before his death.
According to the report, President Donald Trump said the bill has "a good chance" of passing and suggested expanding it to include additional measures targeting Iran and Hezbollah, although Senate aides said those issues are already addressed through secondary sanctions.
The report added that the proposal has attracted support from more than two dozen bipartisan co-sponsors, who described its passage as a tribute to Graham's longstanding efforts on Russia policy.
