Strait Of Hormuz Under Iran's Control For 30 Days: Iran Foreign Minister

If any party or state interferes in the peace process, it could lead to a delay in the opening of the Strait: Abbas Araghchi

The Strait of Hormuz will remain under Iran's control for 30 days and its total capacity would be restored after removing all obstacles, Iran's foreign minister Abbas Araghchi said on Monday.

He also cautioned any parties or states from interfering in the peace process, failing which the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) would be derailed, leading to a delay in the opening of the Strait.

Transcript:

ARAGHCHI (via interpreter): “The Strait of Hormuz remains under the total oversight and management of Iran through the 30 coming days. And after all obstacles are removed, the total capacity of the waterway will be restored. This is what we are working on, again, with respect to the management of the Strait of Hormuz and the procedures towards reopening the waterway. No party or state should interfere. They should honor their obligations under the MOU. Otherwise, the MOU would be derailed. Any intervention or any unilateral action or any new development will result in exacerbating the situation and also delaying the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.”
