Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has ordered the National Guard to San Antonio ahead of planned immigration protests this week, joining a growing list of states responding to nationwide demonstrations sparked by federal immigration raids.

Protests in Los Angeles prompted President Donald Trump to deploy National Guard troops and Marines over the weekend. Now, similar rallies are planned in San Antonio for Wednesday and Saturday.
"The State of Texas stands ready to deploy all necessary personnel and resources," Abbott's office told KSAT, warning that violence or property damage will be met with strict enforcement.

Local leaders in San Antonio, including Mayor Ron Nirenberg and Police Chief William McManus, said they are working with state and federal officials to maintain public safety while supporting peaceful demonstrations.
Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar warned protesters to watch out for agitators, urging them to remain peaceful.
Trump said Tuesday that without his federal deployment, Los Angeles “would be burning.”
