Republican Rep. Thomas Massie is facing one of the toughest primary battles of his political career as President Donald Trump intensifies efforts to remove GOP critics from the party.
Voters in Kentucky’s 4th Congressional District will decide whether Massie survives a challenge from Trump-backed candidate Ed Gallrein, a former Navy SEAL and farmer personally encouraged by Trump to enter the race.

According to NBC News, the contest has become the most expensive House primary in U.S. history, with more than $32 million spent, largely by Trump-aligned groups and pro-Israel organizations attacking Massie.
Trump’s frustration with Massie has grown over repeated clashes on spending, foreign policy and the release of Jeffrey Epstein-related files. Massie also opposed Trump’s signature tax-and-spending bill and criticized U.S. strikes on Iran.
Despite Trump’s attacks, Massie argued he remains aligned with many grassroots Republican voters, especially younger conservatives skeptical of wars and government spending.
