President Donald Trump began a high-stakes summit in Beijing with Chinese President Xi Jinping as both nations seek stability in trade relations while navigating tensions over Taiwan and the Iran war.

Trade is expected to dominate the talks, with discussions reportedly focused on extending the existing trade truce, easing export restrictions, and creating new U.S.-China trade and investment boards. Trump arrived with several major American business leaders, including executives from Apple, Tesla, and Nvidia.

According to White House officials, agreements involving aerospace, agriculture, and energy are also under discussion. However, aides stressed that no sweeping trade deal is expected.

Taiwan remains another sensitive issue. Trump recently suggested arms sales to Taiwan could be discussed with Xi, raising concern among supporters of the island.

The Iran conflict is also expected to influence negotiations as Washington seeks greater Chinese cooperation while Beijing pushes for regional stability and diplomatic solutions.
