Trump Warns Iran’s Backers Of ‘Tremendous’ Economic Consequences

President Donald Trump has threatened an unprecedented economic campaign against Iran, warning countries and companies that help Tehran evade sanctions could face severe consequences.

In a Truth Social post, Trump said the United States would target oil smuggling, currency transfers, cash networks, ship registries and front companies. He called the effort an “Economic D-Day” and urged U.S. allies to help isolate Iran. Trump also reiterated that Tehran must not be allowed to obtain a nuclear weapon.

Iran rejected the threat. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi accused Washington of pursuing “economic terrorism,” while Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi argued that economic pressure would represent another failed strategy.

The report said Chinese officials urged diplomacy rather than additional sanctions. An Iranian economic adviser also disputed claims that the country is close to collapse, citing its ability to adapt to prolonged sanctions.

The escalation follows the UAE’s suspension of trade and financial dealings with Iran. China remains a key test of Washington’s pressure strategy because of its extensive economic ties with Tehran.
