U.S. Considers Asset Relief As Iran Peace Talks Advance

The Trump administration is weighing a proposal to unfreeze up to $20 billion in Iranian assets as part of ongoing peace negotiations, CNN reported, citing sources familiar with the talks.

Officials believe a broader deal to end the conflict could be reached as early as this weekend, though key disagreements remain.

According to the report, discussions are focusing on Iran’s uranium enrichment limits and the transfer of its nuclear stockpile.

One proposal would link asset relief to Iran handing over enriched material. Iran, however, is reportedly seeking wider sanctions relief beyond the proposed amount.

Pakistani officials are mediating the talks, with a possible second round of direct negotiations expected soon. The report said a recent Israel-Lebanon ceasefire and Iran’s reopening of the Strait of Hormuz have helped improve momentum.

President Donald Trump publicly rejected claims that money would be exchanged, stating no funds would change hands. The White House described the talks as ongoing but declined detailed comment.
