The head of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) has urged shipping companies to exercise restraint as nearly 6,000 seafarers remain stranded in the Gulf amid escalating tensions between the United States and Iran.
According to the report, IMO Secretary-General Arsenio Dominguez warned vessel operators against exposing crews to unnecessary danger by transiting the Strait of Hormuz while security conditions remain unstable.
Dominguez said the conflict has intensified fear and psychological stress among crews working in the region.
According to the report, the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe warned that supply disruptions and energy price volatility could persist for months.
Officials also cautioned that low strategic oil reserves and extreme summer heat could place additional pressure on global energy supplies and infrastructure.
