President Donald Trump said Iran has assured the United States that ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz will not face tolls, insurance fees, or other charges.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump also stated that no U.S. funds had been handed over to Iran, although some Iranian-controlled money would be used to purchase American agricultural products, including corn, wheat, and soybeans.

The comments follow a recently signed interim peace agreement between Washington and Tehran aimed at ending hostilities.

According to the framework, both sides agreed to keep the Strait of Hormuz open and toll-free for at least 60 days and work toward ending regional conflicts, including fighting involving Hezbollah in Lebanon.

The report said some Republican lawmakers have criticized aspects of the agreement. Meanwhile, uncertainty over Hormuz operations affected shipping traffic, while oil prices declined as markets reacted to signs of easing tensions in the region.
