Walmart received approximately $2.9 billion in tariff refunds after the government returned import duties collected in 2025 and early 2026, according to CNN. The retailer said it has already received most of the money.
Other major retailers also received substantial refunds. Target reported $994 million, while Home Depot received $730 million and TJX received $331 million.
The refunds follow a February Supreme Court ruling that found President Donald Trump’s broadest tariffs illegal. U.S. Customs and Border Protection began distributing refunds from roughly $168 billion collected from importers.
The report said companies including Apple, Amazon and FedEx have also received refunds. FedEx plans to return $800 million to customers who directly paid the tariffs, while Amazon said it will provide refunds in limited circumstances.
