Trump confirmed the breakthrough, announcing that the agreement would lead to the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and the removal of the U.S. naval blockade

The United States and Iran have reached an agreement aimed at ending nearly four months of conflict, with a formal signing ceremony scheduled for June 19 in Switzerland, according to statements from Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who has served as a mediator between the two sides.

President Donald Trump confirmed the breakthrough, announcing that the agreement would lead to the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and the removal of the U.S. naval blockade.

Iran’s Supreme National Security Council also confirmed a memorandum of understanding, stating that military operations across all fronts, including Lebanon, would end immediately and permanently.

According to reports, broader negotiations on long-term issues, including Iran’s nuclear program, will continue after initial commitments are fulfilled. Qatar welcomed the agreement, while European nations reportedly signaled willingness to ease sanctions if Tehran takes additional nuclear safeguards.

The report said the conflict disrupted global energy supplies, fueled inflation and raised interest rate expectations worldwide. Vice President JD Vance said the agreement could help lower energy costs and provide economic relief for consumers.
