EngineAI has launched what it describes as the world's first humanoid robot knockout tournament in Shenzhen, China, featuring 32 teams competing with its T800 humanoid robots.
According to the report, the event drew widespread attention after a robot named "White Eagle" kicked the head off its opponent, "Matador," in one of the competition's most widely shared moments.
The report said the T800 is a general-purpose humanoid robot weighing between 75 and 85 kilograms and priced at about $40,500.
According to the report, the tournament comes amid growing international debate over the role of advanced robots, following renewed calls by United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres for legal safeguards against fully autonomous weapons.
Industry observers said such competitions could help increase public understanding of humanoid robotics, while the tournament's winning team is set to receive a championship belt valued at $1.44 million.
