A tense hostage situation at a Chase Bank building in Bakersfield, California, ended Wednesday when FBI personnel fatally shot a suspect who had barricaded himself inside the facility with hostages, according to the Bakersfield Police Department.
The incident began Tuesday afternoon after authorities responded to a reported bomb threat at the bank.
Police established a security perimeter around the area and launched negotiations with the suspect while crisis response teams worked to secure the release of those inside the building.

According to officials, the suspect held several community members hostage during the standoff.
Two hostages were released Tuesday evening following negotiations, while nearby government offices and businesses, including City Hall, were evacuated as a precaution. Roads surrounding the area were also temporarily closed to protect public safety.
The standoff lasted approximately 12 hours before ending in an officer-involved shooting involving FBI personnel.
Authorities said the hostage situation was resolved and no further threat remained. The Bakersfield Police Department and the FBI are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting and the events that led to the standoff.
