The White House Correspondents’ Association (WHCA) has announced a second correspondents’ dinner, scheduled for July 24 in Washington, D.C., following the shooting incident that disrupted the original event in April.
Association President Weijia Jiang said the decision came after careful deliberation and that the gathering will feature substantially stronger security protocols.
According to the WHCA, the event will be smaller in scale, with the organization covering ticket costs for members and providing financial assistance to scholarship recipients traveling to the nation’s capital.

The rescheduled dinner comes months after a gunman opened fire at the Washington Hilton during the April event.
The attack forced President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, Cabinet officials, journalists, and guests to seek safety. The suspect, Cole Tomas Allen, faces attempted assassination and firearms-related charges.
Jiang said the event is intended to demonstrate that violence has no place in American society.
The report noted that Trump’s attendance remains unconfirmed, while the White House has not commented on the plans.
