President Donald Trump is seeking Supreme Court rehearings in two major legal setbacks, despite such requests rarely succeeding, according to a report by CNN.
Trump's legal team has already asked the court to reconsider its refusal to hear his appeal in the $5 million E. Jean Carroll sexual abuse and defamation case. Trump also announced plans to seek a rehearing of the Supreme Court's June 30 decision striking down his executive order ending automatic birthright citizenship.
Legal experts told CNN that successful rehearing requests are exceptionally uncommon. The report said the last time the Supreme Court reconsidered and reversed one of its own argued decisions was decades ago.
Meanwhile, a federal judge rejected Trump's request to delay payment to Carroll, and an appeals court also denied immediate relief.
