Tuesday’s primaries in Florida, Alaska and Wyoming produced several important results ahead of the 2026 general election, according to CNN.
In Florida, Republican Rep. Byron Donalds, endorsed by President Donald Trump, won the GOP nomination for governor.
Former Republican Rep. David Jolly, who later became a Democrat, secured the Democratic nomination. Donalds remains heavily favored in a state with a large Republican voter advantage, though his primary performance fell short of 50%.
Democratic state Rep. Angie Nixon defeated Alex Vindman in Florida’s Senate primary, highlighting the growing influence of the party’s socialist wing.
In Alaska, Republican Sen. Dan Sullivan and Democrat Mary Peltola advanced toward November’s ranked-choice election. Two Florida Democratic incumbents also survived progressive challengers.
