Shares of US-listed companies with exposure to Greenland surged Monday after the United States and Denmark reached a security agreement covering the Arctic territory.

Greenland Energy jumped more than 141% in premarket trading, while Greenland Mines rose nearly 70% and Critical Metals Corp gained more than 30%, according to the report.

The agreement is expected to be signed during the United Nations General Assembly this week. It would allow the US, Denmark and Greenland to develop a larger military presence on the territory while preventing rival powers from establishing military bases there.

The deal follows months of President Donald Trump pressing for greater US control of Greenland, which he has described as important to American national security. Trump said the US would have broad authority to protect Greenland and that Washington would begin developing a military presence there.

Key terms have not been released. Greenlandic and Danish officials said the arrangement would respect Greenland’s self-determination and Denmark’s sovereignty, according to the report.
