The United States carried out a second consecutive night of military strikes against targets in Iran on Wednesday, signaling a further escalation in tensions between Washington and Tehran amid growing concerns about regional stability.
President Donald Trump warned that additional military action could follow, describing the strikes as a response to what the administration views as increasing Iranian aggression.
Iranian officials reported that some of the strikes caused damage to infrastructure, including water reservoirs in the southern city of Sirik.
At the same time, the U.S. Treasury Department announced new sanctions against nine entities accused of supporting Iranian weapons procurement networks.
The U.S. Embassy in Baghdad also advised American citizens to remain vigilant amid the possibility of further regional instability and travel disruptions.
Iran has continued to reject the use of military pressure as a path toward resolving disputes.
Speaking at the United Nations, Iran’s ambassador argued that lasting peace can only be achieved through diplomacy and mutual respect, warning that further escalation could undermine prospects for a negotiated solution.
