India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, striking nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in response to a recent deadly attack in Jammu and Kashmir. Targets included Lashkar-e-Taiba’s base in Muridke and Jaish-e-Mohammad’s headquarters in Bahawalpur. India emphasized the strikes were "focused, measured, and non-escalatory," avoiding Pakistani military installations. The name Sindoor is believed to honor the women who lost loved ones in the attack.

Global reactions followed swiftly. U.S. President Donald Trump expressed hope for a quick end to hostilities, calling the situation “a shame.” Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke with national security advisors in India and Pakistan, urging de-escalation.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and UAE Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed also called for restraint. In contrast, Israel voiced strong support for India’s right to self-defense, declaring there is “no place to hide” for terrorists.
