One option includes upgrading the French-Italian SAMP/T system already in use. The report said Ukraine is also exploring domestic production through defense firms developing lower-cost alternatives and new missile technologies.
Zelensky acknowledged supply constraints, particularly access to key components. Ukraine’s dependence on Patriot systems has become a growing concern amid rising global demand driven by the Iran conflict.
Following recent Russian strikes, Zelensky urged allies to deliver promised air defense support promptly, warning that delays could weaken Ukraine’s ability to counter ballistic missile threats.
