China has urged the United States to show “sincerity” in resolving the Iran nuclear dispute, while warning against what it called “dangerous” nuclear rhetoric in Japan, according to its latest Non-Proliferation Treaty report.

The report, released by China’s foreign ministry and cited by multiple outlets, blamed Washington’s 2018 withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal as the root cause of current tensions. It also criticized U.S. and Israeli military strikes on Iran, saying they violated international law.

Beijing called for an immediate halt to military action and renewed diplomatic engagement, the report said. It reiterated China’s “no first use” nuclear policy and defended its relatively smaller arsenal.

The document also rejected U.S. efforts to include China in arms reduction talks with Russia, calling such proposals unfair.

Additionally, China raised concerns over Japanese discussions about nuclear weapons, warning they could destabilize regional security.
