Bill Gates appeared before the House Oversight Committee on Wednesday to answer questions about his past relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, as lawmakers continue examining information released through recent Justice Department disclosures.

During the interview, Gates strongly denied any wrongdoing and rejected allegations suggesting he was involved in or aware of Epstein’s criminal activities.

💡
“I have never victimized anyone,” Gates said, while reiterating previous statements that he regrets maintaining contact with Epstein after concerns were raised about the financier’s conduct.

Gates’ association with Epstein began in 2011 and continued for several years, despite objections reportedly expressed by his then-wife, Melinda French Gates.

Epstein died in a New York jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges.

Lawmakers questioned Gates about the nature of his interactions with Epstein and whether he had any knowledge of the financier’s activities.

💡
Gates also dismissed claims tied to a 2013 draft email referenced in recently released documents, describing the allegation as false.

The committee emphasized that appearing in documents related to Epstein does not, by itself, imply criminal conduct.

Unlike some previous high-profile congressional interviews, Gates’ session was conducted without video coverage.

The hearing marks the latest effort by lawmakers to examine the relationships and connections surrounding Epstein as additional records continue to generate public and political scrutiny.
