China Advances Reusable Rocket Technology

China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation described the achievement as a historic milestone that strengthens the country's space launch capabilities.

China has successfully recovered the first-stage booster of its Long March 10B rocket during an orbital launch test, marking a significant advance in the country's reusable rocket program, according to a report by CNN citing Chinese state media.

The rocket launched from Hainan Island on Friday. About six minutes after stage separation, the booster made a controlled vertical landing on a floating platform. The mission also successfully placed a satellite into orbit, the report said.

China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation described the achievement as a historic milestone that strengthens the country's space launch capabilities.

According to CNN, reusable rockets are considered essential for reducing launch costs, improving mission turnaround times and strengthening strategic space capabilities. The technology has been a major factor behind the success of U.S. companies such as SpaceX and Blue Origin.

The Long March 10 series is also expected to play a key role in China's plans to carry out future crewed missions to the Moon.
