A class-action lawsuit against Grok has expanded with two additional plaintiffs and now also names Stability as a defendant over allegations related to the generation of child sexual abuse material (CSAM).
According to the report, one plaintiff alleges her stepfather uploaded a childhood photograph and used Grok to generate more than 7,000 abusive AI-generated images.
The report said the lawsuit further alleges Stability released an open-weight AI model despite knowing it had been trained on data that included CSAM.
According to the report, attorney Annika K. Martin accused the companies of knowingly developing AI systems capable of producing deepfake CSAM.
The report also cited the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, which warned of a sharp increase in reports involving generative AI, with more than 1.5 million CyberTipline reports filed last year that indicated a connection to the technology.
