Billionaire investor Leon Black is expected to testify before the House Oversight Committee on Friday as part of Congress' ongoing investigation into convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, CBS News reported.

The committee is expected to question Black about nearly $170 million in payments made to Epstein between 2012 and 2017.

Democratic Sen. Ron Wyden has argued that Black has not provided a credible explanation for paying Epstein amounts that far exceeded fees charged by other tax and estate planning advisers.

Black's attorneys have maintained that the payments were solely for tax and estate planning services. They also said documents released under the Epstein Files Transparency Act contain no credible evidence that Black knew of or participated in Epstein's criminal conduct.

According to CBS News, committee records show Epstein advised Black on personal matters, including a nondisclosure agreement involving a former model.

Black joins several high-profile witnesses, including Bill Gates and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, who have appeared before the congressional panel investigating Epstein's network and financial dealings.
