A federal judge has ordered that more than $5 million in damages be released to E. Jean Carroll, rejecting President Donald Trump's request to delay payment while he pursued additional legal challenges.

According to the report, Judge Lewis Kaplan ruled after the U.S. Supreme Court declined to hear Trump's appeal, allowing Carroll to collect the jury award along with accrued interest.

The report said Trump's legal team argued that releasing the funds before the conclusion of all appeals could cause irreparable harm if the judgment were later overturned.

Carroll's attorneys sought immediate payment following the Supreme Court's decision.

According to the report, Trump's spokesperson criticized the lawsuit as politically motivated and described it as part of continuing "witch hunts" against the President.

The ruling applies to one of two civil cases brought by Carroll. The report said Trump also plans to ask the Supreme Court to review a separate $83 million defamation judgment related to statements made in 2022.
