Television audiences for the FIFA World Cup have surged across the United States as the tournament enters its knockout stage, with Fox Sports and Telemundo reporting record-breaking viewership, according to CNN.
Fox said 84 million Americans watched at least part of its World Cup coverage through June 25, based on Nielsen data. Telemundo reported its audience is running at more than double the level recorded during the 2022 tournament, with engagement reaching historic highs.
President Donald Trump also highlighted the strong television numbers in a Truth Social post. Fox said the June 19 United States versus Australia match averaged 16.2 million viewers, making it the most-watched FIFA men's World Cup day in English-language US television history, according to the network.
