The report said several factors are driving the ratings boom, including the tournament being hosted in the United States, Canada and Mexico, more favorable prime-time television slots, and the growing popularity of soccer among American viewers.

President Donald Trump also highlighted the strong television numbers in a Truth Social post. Fox said the June 19 United States versus Australia match averaged 16.2 million viewers, making it the most-watched FIFA men's World Cup day in English-language US television history, according to the network.
