The United States launched another wave of airstrikes on Iran early Wednesday, hours after President Donald Trump warned that military action would intensify unless Tehran returned to peace negotiations.
According to U.S. Central Command, the strikes targeted military capabilities that Iran has allegedly used to attack commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
Trump said the United States could expand attacks to Iranian infrastructure, including power plants and bridges, if diplomatic efforts fail. The report said Brent crude remained above $85 per barrel as renewed tensions fueled concerns over energy supplies through the Strait of Hormuz.
Analysts told CNBC that prospects for a negotiated settlement remain weak. They warned the conflict could evolve into a prolonged "forever war," arguing that both Washington and Tehran are seeking outcomes that allow each side to claim victory, making diplomacy increasingly difficult.
