Iran launched missile and drone attacks against a US base in Jordan and multiple targets across the Gulf after President Donald Trump ordered strikes on Iranian military infrastructure, according to Iranian state media.

🇮🇷
The report said Iran's Revolutionary Guards targeted the US al-Azraq base in Jordan, as well as sites in Kuwait and Bahrain, in retaliation for American attacks near the Strait of Hormuz.

Tehran claimed the operation was a response to US strikes on Iranian air defence systems, radar installations and command facilities.

President Trump told ABC News that the US response was intended to be "very strong" after what he said was the downing of an American Apache helicopter. US officials said nearly 20 Iranian targets were struck during operations lasting several hours.

Jordan, Kuwait and Bahrain reported activating air defences, with Jordan saying five Iranian missiles were intercepted.

According to a US official, most Iranian missiles and drones were shot down, with no immediate reports of casualties or damage to American personnel.

The escalation has raised fresh concerns about peace negotiations and pushed oil prices higher amid renewed instability around the Strait of Hormuz.
